ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To review the different aspects of inflammatory disease of the glans penis and prepuce with special reference to Zoon's balanoposthitis. METHODS: The clinical history of patients that had been diagnosed and treated for Zoon's balanoposthitis are reviewed and discussed. RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS: Zoon's balanoposthitis is not a malignant lesion. Circumcision will suffice for the management and treatment of this condition.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To describe a case of scrotal epidermal cyst with special reference to the differential diagnosis between cystic and tumoral lesions. METHODS/RESULTS: The clinical history of a patient with an epidermal cyst localized to the scrotum is presented and the literature is briefly reviewed. Scrotal epidermal cysts and pilonidal cysts are distinct. Their etiology (embryonic vs acquired) is discussed from an academic perspective. CONCLUSIONS: Pilonidal and epidermal cysts are benign lesions. Excisional biopsy using local anesthesia will generally suffice for the classification and treatment of these lesions.

ABSTRACT

Brief presentation of a series of considerations on the clinical history of a male with deferens unilateral agenesis associated to absence of epididymis, seminal vesicle and renal unit on the same side (all incidental findings in an asymptomatic male with no previous history who requested a vasectomy). For a better understanding of this entity, an outline of the wolffian ducts' organogenesis (urinary potentials/genital potentials) is made and reconsidered. The methodological mechanics followed in this case (performance of vasectomy on the one side, as well as comprehensive confirmation of absence of the other deferens, obtention and confirmation of azoospermia, and performance of a minimum set of tests to take down the particulars of the entity and to rule out associated conditions) are reviewed and discussed. Based on the "Brief case" approach, and on the documentation available in the clinical history, this paper will not go into details on the relationship of this entity with a mutation of the cystic fibrosis gen.

ABSTRACT

A few remarks on the clinical records of two children with middle raphe cysts located in the pre-putium and the perineum. For a better understanding of this entity, the organogenetic dynamics of the penis, scrotum, pre-putium and male urethra are outlined and redefined. Middle raphe cysts are tegumentary formations that arise as a result of "tissue trappings". This entity should not be suggestive of malignancies. Therapeutical restraint should be the rule. Exeresis should only be indicated in the face of a hypothetical complication (e.g., infection, large volumes, etc.) or because of aesthetic reasons.
